M.E.E.D was created by an ME sufferer living in Penrith. Jo-anne has had ME since 1993. For 6 years she was very severely affected, bedridden and unable to care for herself. She has now made a partial recovery and works as a volunteer committee member for the 25% ME group (a national charity for the severely affected) and also helps run a national website for people with ME called MEchat. She is also a patient representative for the new CFS/ME Clinic in North Cumbria: see the 'About ME' section/NHS services page for further information on our local Clinic.

Jo-anne was frustrated by the lack of local support and services for people with ME in Penrith & surrounding areas and hopes that this website will provide much needed information, especially for those newly diagnosed with the disease.
